Visiting the instagram worthy blue house | Perth

I've actually seen pictures on instagram and facebook of this iconic blue house and only realized that it was located in Perth recently (I'm a derp, I know).

It's located on Mounts Bay Road and does not have direct parking but there's a small public parking area just a short 5-10 mins walk along the road, although it has very limited spots. Alternatively, you can get there by public transport which is located at a close proximity to the house.

There really isn't anything to do around the area except maybe take a walk to kings park and take a gazillion pictures of the house. It was a pretty funny experience when I went with my family as we had to queue for 20 minutes to take a picture in front of the house and our memory card got full after just one picture and we held the line for a solid 5 minutes since I had to run and get another one while they pretended to take selfies on the phone.

The house has a magnificent view and is a must visit destination for all you instagram lovers. Do expect to wait quite a bit for your turn tho as there are a lot of tourists that take a million photos in all the different poses you can imagine.

Von's chicken | East Victoria Park, Perth

This restaurant is almost purely just a restaurant that sells chicken and well, rice. There are a small selection of salad but I wouldn’t advise to actually get any.
I wasn’t sure what to get so I asked the cashier to recommend us the best selling dish which was apparently their fried chicken gold wings ($13.95).
It was quite okay? I think that it might have been like a classier sweeter version of KFC but it wasn’t anything special.

The portions weren't too big so we got some roast barbeque chicken ($13.95) as well in mild. This was much more appealing to my taste buds rather than the fried chicken. It was a tad spicy for mild so I can imagine the hot or extra hot one to burn your tongue a bit.
They supplied us with gloves and a bin which is very clever because we can eat with our hands without worrying how messy it will turn out to be.
The food was so-so I had the roast barbeque chicken first and it had such a strong flavor that when I went onto the fried chicken… well I couldn’t taste it that well.

Service was quite fast but the staff didn’t seem to be too friendly. I had to ask for tap water twice before actually getting some and it was troublesome since they only gave a single cup with no jug and every time I would like a refill I would have to try to get the waitress’ attention all over again.

Overall, I would probably not visit here again as it is quite expensive for chicken. For about $30 we got to have 10 small pieces of chicken (8 wings and 2 legs) and one serving of rice. The chicken they sell here is totally overrated.

Christmas tree lighting in Perth

It's starting to look a lot like Christmas here in Perth! Treesha and I went to Forest chase last Friday to watch the mayor light up the city. We were twinning to the event in our cute denims.
We came an hour after the event actually started so the place was CROWDED. We somehow managed to make our way to the front and watched the last 20 minutes of the Christmas show.
Treesha and I also managed to see Santa and probably were more excited then the kids there. So apparently there was more than 100,00+ lights and décor that were around the city. I was too excited so unfortunately I did not get a snap of when they actually switched the lights on. The city was lit beautifully, there was confetti everywhere and buildings were all Christmas-y.
Isn't it GORGEOUS? It really reminds me of Elsa from frozen.
This is the tree they lit up, it's quite a small tree (comparing to the ones in Dubai) but it's 13 metres tall and is supposedly the largest Christmas tree in Perth.

Speaking of Christmas holidays, since I'm going back to Dubai this break my wonderful boyfriend bought me an early birthday present from kikki.k.
He spoilt me with a planner, some pens and a matching pencil case.
Hope everyone is enjoying the season~

Superstar waffles | Northbridge, Perth

Hello lovelies,

Today, my friends and I decided to have some waffles while we were in Northbridge. I  felt super adventurous trying to find this place since it is tucked away in an alley and so it is quite easy to miss.

The decorations of this little gem of a dessert shop was very simple and super duper cute. I loved everything about the interior from the mugs hanging down to the cute vintage bottles we had on our tables.

The place was very simplistic and only has about 8 or so tables, so prepare to wait a bit during rush hour. As for pricing, all the waffles on the menu were under $10. Oh, apparently now they offer a take-away option for almost all the waffles so that's a good alternative if you don't want to wait. ;)

Just look how good that looks! It tastes even better. We ordered the warm apple pie waffle ($9.5) which was generously topped with cinnamon and icing sugar. The apple is outrageously soft and it tasted sooooo good, I can't even. The added muesli crumble complimented the taste well with the super fluffy waffles. It comes with cream too, but we opted it out and had vanilla ice-cream instead.
I'm not a big fan of vanilla ice-cream so I ordered an additional scoop of chocolate ice-cream for myself. Hehe.

Overall, I think this place is a good option if you're bored of geláre. Definitely coming back to try the other waffles on the menu!

Colour run 2015| Perth

So this morning, colour run was happening in Langely park. My usual volunteer crew and I obviously did not miss out on the opportunity to help out in this event. I’m sure most of you know what colour run is. It’s basically a 5km fun run where you get different colours thrown at you and you get to hear live entertainment and mess about. If you'd like to know more, click here.
We arrived at the venue at 6:30am, a good hour before our briefing (talk about keen!) and the only thing that didn’t stop me from crashing down was this big chocolate muffin.
We started off unpacking heaps of boxes, which I struggled with because I’m a weakling. This is my victory shot after I achieved opening a box by myself.
I was SO tempted to Zumba when I heard the songs but we couldn’t leave our stations. L
We were assigned to finish line so we handed out colour packets, shine packets, drinks and medals to everybody who completed the run. There was a large number of adorable kids I couldn’t even.

We volunteered for about 6 hours before we could sign off. The place was filled with music, laughter and joy. It was a lovely , super tiring experience and I got to bond with these lovelies more~

Pachi Pachi | East Victoria Park, Perth

Let me tell you, this is one of my FAVOURITE Asian cafe in perth. My lovely cell leader discovered this and in no time it became everyone's to go spot! I've been here over a gazillion time because of their lunch deals ($10 a meal!) but unfortunately they took it away and the dishes are slightly pricey for me to be going so often.

It says Asian, but the food menu is mostly Japanese cuisine. The place is quite popular but we usually get a seat. The staff that were here are amazing, they're so so so so nice and friendly and I have received high quality customer service every single time.

This was the first time I have been to Pachi Pachi after they took down their lunch specials and I was so upset that they don't do my favourite dish anymore! I can't exactly remember was it is called but it was like a beef version of oyakudon and was the bomb.

We started off with Fresh Asian Greens with oyster sauce ($10.50). The name was misleading, I thought I would get a variety of Asian vegetables but it turned out to be just bok choy. Oh, I initially ordered it with garlic sauce but I guess the waiter messed up since he didn't note any of our orders down while we selected. The vegies were really yummy, but would I pay that much again for greens? Probably not. I have recently made my own homemade version of this, check it out here.

THIS was the highlight of my day. I ordered a matcha frappe (right, $6.50) as usual. Pachi Pachi hands down serve the best matcha frappe in Perth. It's made of yummy cold goodness and topped with cream and green tea kit-kat on top, yum! The mango smoothie (left, $6.50) wasn't too bad either, it's got the Asian mango kind of taste kind of like mango caprison.
This was a new dish I tried out, Chicken Nanban ($16.00) it didn't look as appealing to me but the taste blew my mind. It was so good, I was so sad when I had the last piece. The chicken was sweet and tangy and the sauce on top is their homemade Japanese tartare sauce which taste a lot like Japanese mayo. They also had some vegetables on the bottom, which I think is coleslaw but I'm not too certain.
Oh man, this one is one of my favourite signature dish of theirs. Pork with sweet & sour red wine sauce ($16.00). It's pretty much sweet & sour sauce with some capsicum and onions but the one from Pachi Pachi just explodes in your mouth with strong flavours that makes you long for more.

Everyone in Perth should go and try this restaurant. I guarantee that you would not be disappointed!
